Yesterday, the Volunteers Association at the American University in Cairo, in collaboration with a national association for the development and enhancement of orphanages, organized the Post-Care Conference for Orphans. The conference aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by orphaned youth during the post-care phase before graduating from the orphanage. It included three panel discussions on necessary rehabilitation methods to ensure a stable life for the children, addressing challenges, proposing solutions, and exchanging experiences.

The event was attended by Mr. Magdi Hassan, the Ministry’s Undersecretary and Head of the Central Administration for Social Welfare at the Ministry of Solidarity, Ms. Azza Abdelhamid, President of the national association for the development and enhancement of orphanages, Dr. Amal Abdelrahman Saleh, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al-Sindas Foundation for Orphans with Special Needs, Ms. Sihem El Wardegy, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, as well as a group of young men and women from Al-Sindas Foundation. The aim of their participation was to enhance the children’s awareness, integrate them into society, provide ongoing support, and offer comprehensive rehabilitation and post-care services.

Several officials, associations, youth, and media representatives were also present, along with media coverage by “Nahr Al-Amal” magazine. The sessions featured the participation of Ms. Yasmin El-Hajari, the Executive Director of the national association for the development and enhancement of orphanages, Dr. Yasmin Samir, a psychologist, Mr. Ibrahim Salama, and volunteer Ms. Hagar Mohsen, as well as Ms. Hend Yasser, responsible for the Khair wa Baraka association. The sessions were moderated by Dr. Dina Rateb.

The closing session included the participation of Ms. Lamis Najm, former advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Ola Morsi, a psychologist, and Dr. Akram Reda. The conference concluded with an interactive discussion session among all attendees, including officials and youth, to exchange experiences and establish the conference’s goals of raising awareness among orphaned youth and integrating them into society, ensuring a bright future capable of facing challenges.
